Save And Save To Spend!

Present Christmas

Christmas is the most expensive time of the year for numerous people. If we all tried not getting wrapped up in the buzz of splurging our savings on presents for the big day, we could retain a lot of money and then spend more in the sales!

The mass expenditure of Christmas day can build and build to an obscene amount. Tons of presents, stocking fillers, food, games and the many other bits in between can soon gobble up all of your hard earned cash and once the anticipation and build up to the actual day has disappeared you will question where your money has vanished too!

Christmas brings along a lot of commercialism that we are guilty of buying into however without it would not feel as Christmassy. The majority of us have been brought up to visualize presents and Santa when we think of this holiday rather than the religious message behind it. When you have children the day itself is a magical fantasy which they strongly believe in and you cannot disappoint them with a lack of presents because Santa always delivers! You do not want your precious child questioning if they are on the naughty list. If you do not have kids however or you focus Christmas around the true meaning you could be missing a trick to treat yourself and your family!

Numerous people set up separate savings accounts to save up for December the 25th or keep a jar of money to top up so they make sure they have enough money when it comes around. You should without a doubt keep doing this for the reason of being filled with delight and relief when you open up all of the money you have saved. Many of us can afford to put away even just a little something each month and you will reap the rewards at the end of the year. January sales can be rather scary, especially if you live in a busy city. It could be worth fighting through the shopping crowds nonetheless even if you only find one item you love. Or you could do it the easy way and get yourself online. You can get to the items earlier than people in the shops, all the while still lazing in your pyjamas!

Why not look ahead to the forthcoming Christmas of 2012 and plan not to buy as many gifts for one another and just buy your own gifts in the January sales for a cut of the price. To all the males out there, if your girlfriend was wishing for some designer shoes or boots but you estimated they would be out of your price range, with this plan you would be able to afford them. What you need to do is purchase them in the winter sales and grab them for half the original price. Then you will see double the smiles on her joyful face and still some money left in the bank.

Of course, many people would disagree with this idea and that you cannot miss out on the magic of seeing a pile of gifts stacked high underneath your tree. Perhaps just keep a small amount of cash aside so that you do not compromise the day but you can still treat yourself to a few extra presents in January and get them for half the price. Have a little think this year and give yourself something to look forward to after the excitement and madness of Christmas.
