How To Make A Halloween Costume

Why not make your own costume for Halloween instead of buy one? It isn´t essential to be fantabulous at sewing to do so. A bit imagination and a look through your closet or the local second-hand store is all you require.

You´ll be able to be more originative than just using a white sheet to camouflage yourself as a ghost. Remember, you do not have to stick to the conventional Halloween scary costumes; there are additional characters to metamorphose yourself into like an pirate, a character from your favourite book, or a clown.

To create a clown costume begin by finding a bright pair of sweatpants. Other pants will do if you do not have any as long as they are loose. For the large buttons on the clown coveralls a bright mesh dish scrubber will suffice.

It is easier to wear a wig to transform your hair as dye will be harder to remove. White makeup will be required for your face and find soft shoes to complete the costume.

A great character is the tin man from the ´Wizard of Oz´ book orfilm. For this costume the most significant stuff will be cardboard. To apply that metal lppk just spray silver or cover it with aluminum foil.

An old funnel will make a great hat - there´s probably one at the back of your garage. Wear black shoes and find silver eyeshadow for your face. Alternatively, to make up your face thin silver makeup with cold cream and food coloring. An eye liner will be necessary so you can draw lines from the corners of your mouth to your chin.

Metamorphosing yourself into a pirate is probably one of the simpler task. You could use black or brown infirmary bushes for the base of this garment. Shape the top part to make a pirate´s vest. For the more reliable look, spread a skull and crossbones on the back of the vest. This emblem can be made from white felt. If you can not draw them freehanded, trace around a pattern (there will be one available online).

Next, put on a white shirt and pair of blue jean. A hat is nonobligatory, or maybe wear a bandanna.

For accessories, to polish off any of these dresses up, it could be necessary to purchase them if you or a friend have not the necessary parts. Internet stores or local costume shops will provide what you need or, for an alternative, try the local second-hand store first.

Planning your own Halloween outfit won´t only be fun but will save you loads of money as most costumes start at over $20. As it´s a recycled dress up you do not have to feel shamed about throwing it away and starting anew next year!
