Floral Holidays In The United States

Many Christmas Gifts

When it comes to celebrating holidays in the United States, there is one gift that seems to fit every occasion. Flowers are a universal wish of good luck and good fortune. The most common United States holidays for giving flowers include Mother´s Day, Valentine´s Day, Father´s Day, Secretary´s Day, Boss´s Day and Grandparent´s Day.

Mother´s Day is touted as the one time every year when Mom gets a little back for all the great things she does. Many husbands and family members choose to send flowers because they represent the beauty Mom has given to others in her life. When choosing flowers for Mother´s Day, carnations, daisies and roses are some of the most common species, but any spring flower can be chosen as part of the flower bouquet or basket sent to mom.

Valentine´s Day is considered the occasion for lovers. Whether married, dating or just getting to know each other, roses are the ultimate gift of love. The stronger the relationship or the more passion between the couple, the redder the rose. Commonly, red roses are given to represent love. Pink roses are given to represent like or admiration and white roses are sent to celebrate friendship. A combination of all three rose colors can mean the person receiving the flowers fulfills every need for their mate.

Father´s Day is often celebrated with more manly gifts like ties and trips to the golf course. Recently, however, a new popular gift has emerged. Daughters and wives are choosing to send flowers instead of the more common gifts. Fathers love the fact that they are receiving the same beautiful sentiment as Moms, even if they do not own up to it.

Secretary´s Day is a time when bosses and staff members can send a resounding thank you to the personal assistants and secretaries that support them during the busy work week. Bosses tend to take advantage of their secretaries, but a basket or bouquet of her or his favorite flowers is a great way to say, "I appreciate you!"

Sweetest Day is a smaller holiday that is gaining great popularity. Originally started in 1922 to celebrate the lives of those who made a difference in ours, the day has blossomed into the perfect time of year to deliver flowers. The holiday falls on the 3rd Saturday of October which is the perfect time of year to send fall flowers. The warm colors and fall scents are sure to lift the spirits of those who make life better.

Boss´s Day is the time when the secretary can send a thank you for the flowers she received on Secretaries Day. Many employees choose to celebrate it for the simple reason that work is fun. If the boss in your life makes the time fly by, listens and takes your ideas, concerns and expectations into consideration - a wonderful gift is available with the beauty of flowers.
