Dealing With Family During The Holidays

We can choose our peers but we can’t choose our family. For people in the network marketing industry, the holidays can be one of the most stressful times of the year. You probably showed your marketing plan to family members and some of them we probably less than enthusiastic. Now when you get around them during the holidays they can’t wait to give you a hard time about your business. Unfortunately, you have not yet reached the level in your business that will keep them quiet, but that day is coming. In the meantime, these suggestions should help you have not only a less stressful holiday but a productive one as well.
- Advice vs. Opinion – Undoubtedly, some people will try to give you some advice on how you should be spending your time. If people have experience or expertise in the area they are talking about, then it is advice. If they don’t, then it’s only an opinion. So when your Uncle Bob starts telling you that your business won’t work remember that it’s not advice, only an uneducated opinion.
- Remember how powerful your opportunity is – Whatever you do, don’t let your family eat your lunch. The opportunity that you have could change their financial lives if they saw it. Fortunately you see it and that is what is most important. Remember that they will need your financial support later so stick to your business. You family is depending on you.
- Review your goals – The holidays is a great time to reexamine those goals. Maybe you need to reset some. Think about what you would like to accomplish throughout the holiday season. Do this with your spouse if you are married.
- Change your habits – If you have some bad habits, get rid of them and create some good habits. Try to take up exercise or eating more healthy foods. Make it a new habit to meet at least one new person every single day. Your list will grow fast as a result of your new habit.
- Keep reading – If you are getting a lot of negative during the holidays it is more important than ever to counteract that input with as much positive as you can handle. Double the amount you are reading. Listen to as many positive tapes and cds as you can get your hands on. This will help you to keep up your attitude when you are out and about meeting all those potential associates in the malls.
