Cleaning House For The Holidays

Christmas 022

Well the holidays are upon us and it is that time of year where we will be entertaining friends and family. But before we do, some of us would at least like to have our homes in order a bit, This would be either cleaning certain areas in and around our homes as well as decorating.

Ideally it is always best to start cleaning long before the holidays so that you don´t find yourself caught up in the seasonal rush that some of us get ourselves into. Doing it this way will help keep stress to a minimum and also allow you to truly enjoy the holidays plus give you time to really do those projects that could become long term. However, if that wasn´t possible it is not to late, you can still get your tasks accomplished.

So what are the tasks you want to accomplished? Make sure it is clear in your mind as to things you want to achieve between now and the end of the holidays. Writing them down will go a long way towards helping you stay focused.Next to each task write how long you think it will take you to complete so you will know which things you will be able to do in those little snippets of time that will come your way. Remember to tick or cross out the tasks that you have completed as this will help to keep you excited about all you are getting done.

Also doing a little bit here and a little there go a long way towards getting everything accomplished that you want to. If you can dedicate lets say 30 minutes or even an hour a day to particular tasks you will find it quite rewarding.

Remember though that there isn´t always enough time to get the things we want to do done. So, you could do like you did in your younger years, just until you have the time you need to get really into the cleaning. You know, the age old air freshener, still gives an area a fresh scent and the impression of cleanliness.

If time is really in short supply then calling in the reserves is always an option. You know the children and the spouse. After all they will be enjoying the holidays with you so they should be enjoying every aspect of it as well, not just the food and gifts. This division of tasks is great and can even help make for some memorable times with all involved. Further more, having the children be responsible for certain tasks lets them feel great especially if you let them know it would be a great help to you. Plus it helps to teach them some good habits.

This cleaning will also be the opportune time to think about reducing the clutter in your home and getting a little organized in the process. You can discard of broken items, old clothes and even magazines that you have stored. Purchasing shoe racks or bins with wheels can go a long way towards helping you to reducing the clutter.

Always remember to make sure you have this holiday season, even when you are cleaning. Besides this cleaning can be some very productive time as well. You can listen to some inspirational audios, audio books or just relax by listening to some of your favorite songs.

All in all be sure to enjoy the holidays.
