An Alice Costume is very popular with the girls. Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland is the actual title of the novel Lewis Carroll wrote. This is about a girl named Alice who accidentally falls down a rabbit hole and starts an adventure in a fantasy world inhabited by weird, sometimes crazy and anthropomorphic beings. This is very popular not only with children but also with adults due to the very intricate plot of the story which tests the readers´ logic.

Films have been produced based on this novel, the most famous being the animated feature produced by Walt Disney, and the most recent of which is the 2010 Tim Burton adaptation. Although in this three-dimensional film, the very ´Mad´ Hatter is seemingly more of the lead character than Alice, the latter´s story is the basic synopsis of the novel. This still makes this costume one of the sought-for outfits in costume parties.

Alice, having been transported in ´Wonderland´ through the rabbits´ tunnel, never changes attire and so is well-known for her very simple ensemble. However, in the recent film version, she wore something more elegant and fitting for her age. Here are the two types of Alice costume that you can go for.

The Classic Alice Outfit

More often than not, the expected design of the Alice costume set includes the blue dress which has a white under-skirt ruffled at the hem. There is also a white apron complete with ruffles on the edges of the shoulders. This can be tied at the back. Some ensembles do not include different accessories so make sure that the one you are choosing has it. The black headband, white stockings and a pair of black Mary Jane shoes are the other articles of clothing that you may need.

The Exquisite Twist to the Alice Fancy Dress

This costume version, as mentioned above, is more appropriate for her age. If you have seen the Tim Burton movie, you would know that Alice was older when she returned to Wonderland the second time. This set consists of a beautiful sky blue flowing dress complete with a petticoat underneath it to make it look like a full skirt. The dress has an organza overlay making it look delicately elegant and can be discreetly zipped on the side. The gown has short ruched sleeves also made of organza but trimmed with ruffled white fine lace. The neckline is simple and feminine and also embellished at the edges with black and white Venetian style lace. Simple black buttons adorn the middle part of the chest area while black screen print design of flowers and animals are on the hem of the dress.

Although it is not really a big deal, it would be nice to have the same long blond locks that Alice had. Actually, this is very important to those who are very serious about living their role as Alice.
